SARACENS I vs LAVAL I

In the final game of the season the Saracens' I team had to travel to Laval for a second time to make sure the Nomads did not forfeit the game. The Saracens wanted to leave nothing to chance, they needed the win with the bonus point to be guaranteed second place in the division and home field advantage in the playoffs. Mission accomplished!

However, don't let the final scoreline (50-3) fool you, the team gave a sub-par performance for the entire first half. Unable to cleanly win their rucks, giving up a slew of penalties including a yellow card, the Saracens were unable to properly control the game. On the occasional flash of cohesion and hard work at the breakdowns the young Saracens were able to move the ball wide and with some great support play they managed a 19-0 halftime lead.

The Second half was a different story, the team came out focused and the forwards worked hard to produce clean ball for the backs allowing them to move the ball freely. With clean ball the backs were able to find the gaps and attack with pace, scoring 31 points in the second half. Even after a second yellow card against the Saracens, Laval was only able to score 3 points with the man advantage.

The season is over and the first goal is attained, finishing in the top 3 (2nd place). A lot of hard work went into achieving that goal and there's still 3 more weeks of hard work to attain the final and bring home a championship. MAN OF THE MATCH: D'Arcy Whyte

A few interesting stats; points for 353 (up 75 from last year), 152 points against (down 91 from last year), record 8-1-1 good for 2nd place (6-6, 5th place last year).
