Double Victory in Lennoxville!

In the 3 year resurgence of the Ormstown Saracens one club has been a thorn in its side, the Sherbrooke Abenakis. In the two previous seasons the Saracens' 1st team got off to fast starts but could not keep the cadence against the Abenakis and ended up losing both games. This past weekend's game was the complete opposite, the Abenakis were the ones who stormed out taking an early 10 - 0 lead. After missing a couple important kicks it looked like the thorn would remain, but things began to change near the end of the half and the Saracens started moving the ball which lead to 2 great tries. Half time score 12-10 for Saracens I

The 2nd half saw the Saracens continue with the momentum and soon the score was 15-10 however every time the Saracens would score Sherbrooke would come back to keep the game within reach, kicking 3 points of their own, 15-13. With a great break through the centres 30 meters out, Josh Blair gave us an important lead 22-13. Once again the Abenakis came back at kept the game within reach with an un-converted try, score 22-18 for Saracens. On a day where their forwards were superior in the scrum and in open play it was hard to create or sustain an attacking platform however anytime our back got clean ball they would make big gains and at the end of the day, the team that was more dynamic won! Ormstown's 2nd team has had better luck vs the Abenakis II as last season they won 22-0. This weekend's game was even better for the young Saracens II as they played a dynamic game with great passing and support. Often the ball found itself wide in 3 on 1 situations making it extremely difficult for the opponents backs. The game did not start of that great for the young guns but as the first half wore on they began to find their rhythm and stormed to a 29-5 1st half lead.

The 2nd half started out slowly as well as the Abenakis II were applying a lot of preasure with their forwards but the Saracens withheld and started to find their rhythm again, scoreing 19 more points towards the end of the game. It was great effort by the entire team as there were only three subs available to the team and only 2 made it on to the field. Great effort and some honourable mentions go out to; Chad Mckell, first full game at prop and a try scored; Shane McRae Flanked for the 1st time and did great stealing ball and tackling; Adam Foley was back and score 2 great tries and created more; Matt Hancox who came in to set up some great tries with precice passing. MEN of The Match: Martin and Adam Foley
