On another wet, somewhat rainy day both Saracens men's teams took the field for their home opener vs TMR. Both games on this day were dedicated in memory of Rick Authier with a moment of silence observed between both men's games.
-
The 2nd team kicked-off at noon and withheld early pressure from TMR, what looked like sure points for the opposition, turned into a great counter by the Saracens II and an 80 meter try by rookie Tim Geary. From that point on both teams fought hard on defenses to ensure no other try would be scored. A late penalty conversion by the Saracens II with less than 10min in the games solidified victory, 8-0 for the home team.

The 1st team kicked-off at 1:30 and were ready to avenge last years defeat to TMR and show them how much our team improved after that disappointing game. It did not take long for the Saracens to show their improvement as they scored 2 tries in the opening 10min of the game. With constant pressure and solid play by the entire team the half-time score was 28-3 in favour of the Saracens.
-
The hard part for the 2nd half was to maintain focus and not become complacent. That would not be the case as the Saracens fought hard to keep TMR out of the end zone as they came close to penetrating our try line on a couple of occasion's. With constant pressure and a scrum that improved as the game went on, the men were able to score two more tries bringing the final score 42-6 in favour of the home team.

It was a great day for rugby in Ormstown, our mane won both games, no tries were scored against us and our women's 1st team won their games as well. Special thanks to Johan Maartens for putting on the red jersey again, we all wish it were for the season.
